Optex Systems Teams With Optical Resolutions, Inc. on Next Generation 'Switchable' Vision Blocks

RICHARDSON, Texas, Nov. 19, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Optex Systems Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB:OPXS), a leading manufacturer of optical sighting systems and assemblies, primarily for Department of Defense applications, today announced participation in the commercialization process of a previously awarded SBIR contract won by Optical Resolutions, Inc. (ORI) through the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command's Simulation & Training Technology Center (RDECOM STTC) Orlando.

ORI indicated to Optex that it believes it has successfully demonstrated the ability to embed an LCD screen into a periscope assembly, which can then be used to project images into the existing unity sight, similar to a heads-up display. Together, the two companies will prepare a commercialization plan concurrently with the next series of test units, which they intend to deliver to the Government in late 2009.

Paul Weissman, President of Optical Resolutions, Inc., was quoted as saying, "We look forward to the opportunity to work with Optex Systems. Given the advantages of these new technologies combined with the high volume manufacturing expertise at Optex Systems, we hope to quickly move these systems into the Abrams, Strykers, and other combat vehicle upgrades."
